Gordon Ramsay
Gordon Ramsay is a restaurateur who has already secured 16 Michelin Stars. He is a very popular personality since he has already presented a lot of cookery television programmes. Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares is one of the many TV programmes that he presents. His mother and sister were nurses. On the other hand his father had taken on a lot of responsibilities. He had worked at many places at various designations including swimming pool manager, shopkeeper and even as a singer. Because his father wasn’t successful in carrying on with any job consistently, they had to move from one place to the other all the time. This is the reason why he thinks his early life is itinerant.
Ramsay used to play football for clubs when he was younger. But he wasn’t successful in carrying it on through out his life. He started playing football at the age of 12. He says that he had played for Rangers and Oxford United. But records prove that those are inaccurate. He also blames a manager of his team, and even that is inaccurate. That way his football career ended while he was very young. But during this time, he had already started showing interest in a cooking career.
At the age of 19, Ramsay enrolled to study hotel management at a local college. His studies were sponsored by Rotarians. But still, he says, the decision was an accident, indeed a complete accident! After completing his studies, he got work at the Wroxton House Hotel. But because of some reasons, he couldn’t continue there for too long. He then moved to London, where he continued working at different places until he joined Marco Pierre White which is at Harveys.
He worked for about 2 years at Harveys and then decided to study French cuisine. He thought that doing so, he could advance his career better. He got good training in France for three long years. And this could have really made it easier for him to reach his career goals.
