Nigella Lawson

Nigella Lawson (born on 1960) is a food writer from England. She graduated from the University of Oxford. Soon after that, she started working as a book reviewer. In 1986, she became the deputy literary editor at the Sunday times. It was after this that she started getting freelance writing offers from magazines and newspapers. “How to Eat” was the first book that she published in 1998. It became a bestseller after having sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide. Her second book was “How to be a Domestic Goddess” – this one also was a hit. She was awarded the “author of the year” award for the same.

Her first cookery show was hosted on channel 4, and it was in the year 2000. The name of the show was “Nigella Bites” – the show got popular pretty soon. The show continued and she was able to acquire a lot of cookery awards because of the same. Then in 2005, she started another chat show on ITV. But it wasn’t a success since it got a lot of negative comments and she had to cancel the show soon.

In 2006, she hosted a three part cookery show on BBC 2, “Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen”. The show was broadcast on a week by week basis. All the three parts were a hit because of the great support that she got from the millions of viewers. In 2007, Nigella was awarded “World Food Media” for “Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen”. It didn’t take long for her to become a food commentator. She had her own way of presenting shows and this is one of the reasons why her shows were always a hit.
